What is it about?
Pope Leo XIV fears that using AI to enhance the human being and even to facilitate the evolution of a superintelligent posthuman species threatens our acceptance of God's love for us humans with all of our frailties and limitations. The pope argues that we pace AI development so as to protect human dignity and the common good.

Why is it important?
The transhumanist goal of enhancing the human and replacing the human with a posthuman threatens the legal and cultural protections of human dignity as we have come to know it.
Perspectives
On the one hand, I vigorously support the advance of AI technology. On the other hand, I believe we should do nothing to weaken cultural protections of the rights and dignity of the human person, as we now understand the human person.
