What is it about?

Equipping young people with a GPS tracking device for one week allowed insights into their personal geographies and, through aggregation, the geographies of groups. This is particularly useful in a context emerging from conflict, where space is often contested.

Why is it important?

Much has been written about the different geographies experienced by residents of Northern Ireland from the two main ethnosectarian communities. However, much of this research has focused on Belfast. This study examines communities in a small town some distance from Belfast. Despite a lack of 'Peace Lines' and much less obvious segregation of communities in this small town, it seems that divisions still exist and they affect individual and group mobility.
