What is it about?

Methadone and buprenorphine have different strengths and weaknesses. This paper looks at whether employees in community corrections have a preference for one or the other and why.

Why is it important?

This is important because in order to effectively treat individuals in the criminal justice system, we should put aside personal preferences that may be due to negative assumptions or lack of understanding about medication assisted treatment (MAT). Since MAT is the gold standard of care, employees who are in contact with individuals who have an addiction should be trained in different types of MAT in order to be able to best help each individual.
