Certification barriers and benefits as antecedents to internal decertification motivations

What is it about?

This article focus on the internal decertification motivations and studies the antecedents to these motivations. The antecedents analysed in this study are the certification barriers and the (lack of) certification benefits.

Why is it important?

There are more than 1,000,000 certified firms worldwide that must decide every three years whether to renew of not the certification. Approximately 180,000 firms lose the certification every three years. It is important to understand why, and what can be done to reduce this very high rate of certification withdrawal.
