Preservice physical education teachers' critical thinking

What is it about?

What are preservice PE teachers' definitions of critical thinking? What helped them to gain a better understanding of critical thinking? How did their critical thinking change after taking a methods course for a semester? This study contains the answers to these questions.

Why is it important?

Critical thinking is one of the most important skills in all fields. Researchers, however, rarely paid attention to preservice PE teachers. With a teacher-as-research philosophy, I looked into how our instruction impacted students' critical thinking over a semester. Results of this study point to that organized learning activities can effectively increase student learning in cognitive domain.

Oftentimes, people think doing research requires stringent conditions. I hope this article can inspire practitioners to initiate their own studies when they are teaching in the classroom.
