What is it about?

Mrs. Wilks lived in her community her entire life and never would have thought the two students she thought she knew would have committed such a heinous act. Her experience provides insight into how we can keep our children safe at school.

Why is it important?

Whether it is a pandemic or school violence, society members agree that safety is a high priority when it comes to our children's education. The article at hand provides critical lessons and practical recommendations for meeting the safety needs of our schools, and therefore, the individuals for whom our schools serve.

Perspectives

Unfortunately, school shootings continue to present a danger to some of the most vulnerable among us. Each of us has to do our part to work at preventing such acts. I am forever grateful for all those survivors who have given me an audience and permission to tell their stories in hope of providing a better world.
