What is it about?
Anthracnose is a severe postharvest disease in chilli. Extensive application of synthetic fungicides is the main control measure adopting by farmers. Yet, harmful effects of this practice have led farmers' attention on eco-friendly approaches. Biological control using bacterial antagonists is a promising green approach which showed a remarkable anthracnose disease suppression in chilli.

Why is it important?
Bacteria, antagonistic against the chilli anthracnose causal agent, C. truncatum were isolated from rhizosphere soil, a similar source where these would be applied. As these bacterial antagonists showed a remarkable disease suppression at several stages of chilli, a higher possibility in eradicating the economic loss due to this threat is at hand.
Perspectives
This article is a result of a great effort taken during my PhD research project. It's a great pleasure to mention here that this article elaborates effective approaches of chilli anthracnose management by bacterial antagonists and paves the way for novel disease management strategies. I hope this article may be a turning point in chilli anthracnose management.
