What is it about?

The paper investigates the relationships among sustainable production, lean production, and Industry 4.0 in order to understand if it is possible the adoption of a lean methodology and Industry 4.0 technologies in a sustainable development perspective for companies.

Why is it important?

We address the need for sustainable production which requires a throughout environmental assessment, applied to a whole supply chain. By integrating I.4.0 technologies, Lean methodologies and Circular Economy, “digital sustainable products and processes” could meet the essential human needs by satisfying their requests.

Perspectives

I hope this article could be of help for industries and policy decision makers because innovation and new technologies should be the new frontier to improve processes taking into account our environment's health and future generation's wellbeing.
