What is it about?

In this work, the effects of channel orientation and channel aspect ratio on the thermal behaviour of two facing heated semicircular cavities simulating electronic components is studied experimentally. The results show that depending on the channel inclination angle and geometry of the heat sources, steady, oscillatory, and irregular thermal regimes have been identified.

Why is it important?

We show that the channel inclination and channel aspect ratio affect significantly the three-dimensional thermal features of each heated semicircular cavity. I hope this article makes people think about the relationship between oscillatory heat transfer processes and the heat transfer performance of compact heat exchangers.


The results of this study suggest several guidelines for the thermal design of electronic packages where the geometry of electronic devices and the arrangement of electronic components are of interest.
