What is it about?
This paper explains the basics and how to perform cyclic voltammetry (CV): a plot of current against voltage. CV is a powerful technique for characterising and carrying out electrochemical reactions at electrically conducting surfaces, e.g., metals. Many examples are described in this paper.

Why is it important?
The reactivity of metals and other conducting surfaces can be assessed using this technique. It can also be used for growing coatings on such surfaces.
