What is it about?
This paper describes a new emerging genre, digital narratives, from both a multimodal and cognitive point of view. For this purpose, we combine Kress and Van Leeuwen's (1996) multimodal approach with the use of some notions of the Mental Spaces and Conceptual Integration Theory ( Dancygier, 2008; Fauconnier and Turner, 2002)

Why is it important?
The analysis of thirty digital narratives is of interest to those concerned with the representational and communicational modes of semiotic resources in storytelling.
Perspectives
This is a new approach which combines multimodality (verbal, pictorial and musical resources) and cognitive notions (Mental Spaces and Conceptual Integration Theory) to describe this emerging genre of digital narratives. The oral channel is the leading mode, supported by images and music. Visual metaphors and cultural symbols provide additional meanings beyond the mere factual content of the texts.
