What is it about?
The Swiss linguist Charles Bally wrote about French stylistics, but he did so through comparisons with German. He thus produced some stunning views on translation.

Bally has never been related to translation studies and is virtually unheard of in English, but his work is very cool.

I came across Bally by accident, when I was looking for the origins of Vinay and Darbelnet. He was a smart linguist, a thinker, and a very entertaining writer.
