What is it about?
This group of researchers sought to use rigorous studies of models to bridge research and policy communities. This experimental study investigated the impact of the Research-to-Policy Collaboration and found that policymakers increased their use of research evidence. Researchers improved in policy knowledge and engagement.

Why is it important?
Research evidence could improve the intended impact of public policy, yet a significant gap between the production of research and its use by decision makers requires meaningful change in how these arenas intersect. Models that bridge research and policy have the potential to become evidence-based themselves with rigorous study.
Perspectives
We would like to thank all of the amazing people who contributed to the success of this model. This work is not possible without commitment from public policymakers across the aisle, as well as by researchers who take time away from their desks to do the hard work of translating a practical meaning from large bodies of technical scientific evidence. We recognize that this work is only possible because people care a lot about making a difference in the world, and for that we are truly grateful.
