What is it about?
The formation and evolution of the Solar system was and continues to be an issue addressed by philosophers and astronomers, ever since the time of the Renaissance. Rene Descartes in the 17th century proposed 'the vortex model'. Emmanuel Kant in 1755 attempted to formulate a physical model for the solar system’s origin that was based on Newton’s law of gravity.Following in the footsteps of Kant, Pierre S. de Laplace in 1794 conjectured a model for this process. Since then other models were proposed. However some recent astronomical observations seems to confirm Laplace conjecture. The present paper presents a mathematical model based on accepted physical laws which provides a confirmation of this conjecture.

Why is it important?
Recent astrophysical observations demonstrate that there exist many systems similar to our solar system. This data leads us to believe that there is a fundamental physical process which we do not understand fully as yet that leads to the formation of planetary systems throughout the galaxy (and beyond). The present paper presents new insights about this process.
Perspectives
The present paper considers the process for the "creation of the solar system". The future evolution of this system (and the fate of humanity) should should be the next challenge for this research.
