What is it about?

Nanowire devices are extremely small, and so are their metal contacts. High currents such as those produced upon an ESD can cause damage by heating. To avoid the damage, one needs to design the contact to be able to withstand such high temperatures. In this paper we show how to protect a contact from excessive heating.

Why is it important?

The paper treats a common failure mechanism in nanowire devices that has never been addressed.
