What is it about?
Tunnel junctions play a vital role in constructing a multijunction photovoltaic cell but how to measure them in the cell is a challenge. We have provided for the first time a method to measure the peak currents of all the tunnel junctions in a cell and determine the corresponding relationships between those peaks and tunnel junctions in the decive, by just measuring the wide voltage range I-V curves of the photovoltaic cell.

Why is it important?
Our findings solved the problem of meausing elements serially connected in a two-terminal device, this would deepen our insight into the multijunction photovoltaic devices.
