What is it about?

We have designed a device which will allow the user to control the dose rate and energy of incident x-rays photons in a safe environment. It is also highly portable and can be used in low-resource settings.

Why is it important?

Previously all studies on tissues were done using Linacs or particle accelerators which are designed for clinical treatments and not research. This caused a lot of complications while performing experiments which is eliminated by our device. This is also the first study that shows a dependence on the Dose rate of the incident beam. The effect of low-dose radiation on cells will have a large impact on future space travels and how astronauts are impacted when exposed in space.
