Perspectives

People with ALS often experience barriers when trying to obtain a speech generating device (SGD). The availability of telehealth as a modality for SGD treatment and evaluation helps reduce these challenges and provides greater access to vital durable medical equipment to people with ALS as well as others with complex communication needs. This article provides the patient and caregiver perspective about both the challenges they faced and their impressions of the quality of service after having received SGD evaluation and therapy through telehealth.
