Children with hearing loss often have additional disabilities, but traditional hearing testing is not always possible for children with significant motor and developmental impairments. This is a problem because early identification and ongoing management of hearing loss is important for language and learning. We show that a two-interval observer-based test procedure offers promise for children who have difficulty performing behavioral hearing testing currently in use clinically.
