What is it about?
Novel copper metal organic framework nanoparticles Cu-MOF-NPs-(C1) was successfully synthesized then used as biosensor for T3 hormone and showed high antibacterial activity against various pathogens

Why is it important?
the prepared MOF (C1) was successfully used as a biosensor for the determination of the triiodothyronine hormone (T3) with a limit of detection (LOD) of 1.46 ng dl−1 and a limit of quantitation (LOQ) of 4.85 ng dl−1 without interference with other similar hormones and in the presence of common different drugs. The antibacterial activity of C1 was examined towards five strains of bacteria, two Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus and Candida spp.) and three Gram negative bacilli (E. coli, Pseudomonas, and Klebsiella Sp.), and the results prove that C1 shows equal or better activity compared to the standard antibacterial drugs against various pathogens and the effectiveness of Cu-MOF-NPs increases with increasing particle dose.
