What is it about?

New solid forms of the anthelmintic fenbendazole are being used to improve release and anthelmintic efficacy. The use of analysis of crystal structures that were obtained on the synchrotron PXRD, Computational Methods and in vivo study explains the molecular reasons for the improvement in physicochemical properties

Why is it important?

This is important because cocrystal scientists typically do not study biological properties. In this work, we make direct correlations between anthelmintic efficacy and crystal structure.

Perspectives

Use of these systems as an alternative to the commercial form to improve pharmaceutical properties, repurpose for cancer treatment and circumvent existing patents
