What is it about?

The Assistive Technology Questionnaire was developed by examining factors that underlie assistive technology practices in special education schools.

Why is it important?

Initial items were developed through a comprehensive literature review. Items were refined through three layers of review, and nearly 1,500 respondents were asked to rate their agreement with the initial statements -- using a 7-point Likert scale (strongly disagree, disagree, more or less disagree, neutral, more or less agree, agree, and strongly agree) -- to “mark the level of agreement on how much this item would contribute to the quality of AT, device, and service.” Exploratory factor analysis and three confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) were employed to analyze the data. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.97. The results of the CFA were statistically significant with a total of 67 items across 8 factors (effectiveness, affordability and dependability, utility, external support, operations, longevity, discomfort, and compatibility) (Seok & DaCosta, 2014).
