What is it about?

This article introduces the Domestic Violence Risk Assessment Guide (DVRAG). The DVRAG is a data-driven tool that assesses the risk of intimate partner violence reoffending with a high level of accuracy.

Why is it important?

The DVRAG shows how to combine two other assessment tools, ODARA and the PCL-R, to get the best predictive effect. The ODARA offers a brief front-line assessment for police and other first responders, whereas the DVRAG optimizes risk assessment for correctional services, when more time and resources are available.

Perspectives

The DVRAG has not received as much attention as the ODARA but it has been validated a number of times and is suitable as an in-depth assessment to improve on front-line screening.
