What is it about?

Undergraduate psychology programs almost universally require a research methods course but students often do not understand the centrality of this course to the psychology major. This study looks at students' perceptions of this course and what course challenges they anticipate. We argue that these views may limited students' appreciation of the course's importance and its utility in helping them develop skills valued by employers.

Why is it important?

By better understanding students' attitudes and perceptions of the psychology research methods course, instructors can identify opportunities for strengthening student learning along with enhancing skills which can help facilitate their post-baccalaureate success.
