What is it about?

This study aims to show the effects of memories of the past of a national group, France, on the French of today. In particular, the aim is to show that the more a member of the French nation perceives a link between today's group and yesterday's group (collective continuity), the greater the sense of well-being in his or her personal life.

Why is it important?

It's important to carry out work that links the history of a group with the individual feelings of a country. What happens on a collective level AND what happened in our case, would influence not only the life of the group BUT ALSO the life of the individuals, the members of this group.

Perspectives

Future studies will target specific memories from this collective memory, with the hypothesis that the emotional valence (i.e. the emotion attached to the memory), whether positive, negative or neutral, will have an impact on the beneficial effects of perceiving this link between present and past. In addition, we want to emphasize the study of the effects of the perception of the link between past members of a group and present (or even future) members of the group (what we call the perception of collective prototype continuity ).
