What is it about?

We discuss the opportunities and challenges of using AI to analyze speech and language in research and clinical settings. We argue that the current scope of the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct does not adequately address the ethical issues surrounding its use, leaving psychologists to educate themselves about the ethical and legal implications of these emerging technologies.

Why is it important?

There is a rapid growth and use of AI technologies in healthcare, yet the ethical principles of how and when they should be employed have not developed at the same rate. We focus on psychological applications used by professionals conducting research and in clinical practice and evaluate the ethical considerations inherent to the use of such tools from the perspectives of various users.
