What is it about?

Hyperthermia mediated cispatin delivery system where cisplain is encapsulated by a heat-senstive liposome at hypertermal temperature 42 degree and it is released at the heated tumor.

Why is it important?

Heat-sensitive liposome is prepared by the composition of DPPC: DSPC (=9:1) (phase-transition temperature, around 42 degree) so that the liposome can release an encapsulated agent at this narrow range of temperatures (41 to 45).

Perspectives

This delivery sytem was experimentally shown to have the efficiency of heat-specific cisplatin delivery to the heated tumor in mice (J. Pharm Sc 80: 522-525 1991).
