Why is it important?

This works in important in terms of enhancing sliding bearing elements' service life, durability and operational reliability.

Perspectives

This research has been conducted in collaboration with a major and longstanding international partner. This work has attracted further research funding £55.3K (grants 12064, 11347, 10187) to investigate Dark Etching Regions (DERs) in rolling contact bearing elements, numerical modelling of mixed lubrication and wear-corrosion synergistic study which have significant industrial relevance in terms of a wide range of applications.
