What is it about?

We investigated whether cutting-edge neuroimaging techniques based on MRI scans show the same developmental and age differences that were observed in now highly cited older research that used tissue examination methods.

Why is it important?

This comparison is important for showing both methodological consistency and replication of facts we may take for granted from established studies conducted decades ago.

Perspectives

We replicated the main findings from classic histological developmental brain studies but also underscore some of their weaknesses in addressing the broader questions and specifics about human brain developmental changes.
