What is it about?

This article describes a statistical combination of the results of multiple studies addressing fruit and vegetable consumption using computer tailoring. Computer tailoring adjusts intervention materials to the specific characteristic of an individual person based on surveys they have filled out.

Why is it important?

A diet rich in vegetables and fruits can lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke, prevent some types of cancer, lower risk of eye and digestive problems, and have a positive effect upon blood sugar, which can help keep appetite in check.

Perspectives

The overall effect size of computer tailoring (.20) at 12 months post-baseline is relatively small. But, as these interventions are cost-effective, they should receive more attention in future actions to address the current lifestyle challenges.
