Why is it important?

Energy storage devices have attracted the attention of researchers striving to promote a clean environment. The large-scale manufacture of highly efficient energy storage devices for use in transportation can help to replace non-renewable energy sources.

Perspectives

Over the past few years, energy storage devices have undergone a steady, step-by-step evolution. In their current development stage, supercapacitors have started to be seriously considered as suitable candidates for application as energy storage devices. It shows high power density, fast recharging, and long cycling life, other important characteristics of these devices still have to be improved for fully-fledged commercial applications.
