What is it about?
An innovative seismic isolation system, namely the Conical/Convex Friction System, is introduced in this study. This isolation technique has some distinct features compared to the conventional seismic isolation tools, such as resonance-dodge of the near-fault earthquakes, improved uplift stability, more vertical-load sustaining capacity, etc.

Why is it important?
It may address some issues in seismic isolation that conventional isolation tools cannot address. Such as resonance-like effect in near-fault earthquakes, slipout of the slider, etc.
