What is it about?
Behaviorally self-adaptive engineered system will be dominating in the near future. They utilized the affordances of artificial intelligence technologies. They will be able to adapt themselves to dynamically changing tasks and environments.

Why is it important?
Self-adaptive systems can be used in applications that cannot be supported by preprogrammed systems. Thus, they can be applied in critical fields such as homecare, crowd management, product manufacturing, and other fields where smart decision making in dynamic contexts is important.
Perspectives
Though this topic is widely addressed already in the literature, we are still from an all-embracing theoretical understanding, methodological frameworks, and universally applicable best practices. More transdisciplinary research efforts are deemed to be necessary and are encouraged.
