What is it about?

This study showes the clinical relevance about blood viscosity for forecasting longterm outcome in critical limb ischemia and also new feasibility of improving blood viscosity thru isovolemic hemodilution for symptom releif and against major amputation, in another word, improving tissue circulation and oxygenation when critically-ill status of tissues.

Why is it important?

It gaves a new insight of microcirculation thru viscosity-related management in critically-ill status of tissues. Reduced amputation rate with isovolemic hemodilution in critical limb ischemia patients who had Rutherford category 4,5 tissue loss, resting pain, discoloration in their limb when comparing conventional standard treatment including surgical revascularization and/or maximal medical management which results in major amputation and death with statistical significance.

Perspectives

To improve microcirculation in critically-ill status of tissue, blood viscosity related management could be a feasible armament with longer-term effciency.
