How do people use space when gesturing about abstract concepts?

What is it about?

Do people change hands when making a contrast in speech? Do they use different spaces? Do they use the same space and hand when talking about the same thing? We analyze a dataset to find out, and do see support for all these patterns.

We know a lot about how concrete gestures work, but much less about abstract gestures, but they are just as important in our communication.
