What is it about?

This is a volume on language acquisition, mostly by children, but also by second language learners. It focuses on the acquisition of sentence structure in the Romance languages, including the acquisition of negation, clitic pronouns, and passives.

Why is it important?

This book got started as selected papers of the Romance Turn held at Bellaterra in September, 2016; several papers were added to the initial set, and now constitute an up-to-date volume on very pressing topics in language acquisition, including several papers on the controversial characterisation of passives and related constructions.

Perspectives

It has been a pleasure to edit this volume: as reader, I find all papers very interesting and, although in some cases they voice different views on one same topic, the arguments put forward are worth considering. For this reason I hope the volume helps the field move forward
