What is it about?
The article is a synthesis of the research carried out so far by the author on questions and answers posted by translators on distribution or mailing lists. The participation roles and framework on the one hand and the cognitive dimension on the other hand are taken into account. Differences between notions of community and network are also examined. Even though cognition remains an individual activity, part of it may be shared, as shown in the article.

The questions raised and answers given on translators' distribution lists are part of collaborative translation, a subject matter being paid much attention to today.
Perspectives
The article was an opportunity to get a better understanding of various notions and the shift from individual to interindividual cognition and even the actor-network theory developed by Bruno Latour.
