Deverbalisation in translation.

What is it about?

This article aims at shedding new light on the process at work in written texts. It starts from a different angle, i.e. translated texts in which it might a posteriori be inferred. Assumptions are recollected and set a background accounting at least partly for deverbalisation. Examples are given which make it possible for new questions to arise or new points of view to be taken into account. Links with other notions of the interpretive theory are also reviewed.

Why is it important?

Deverbalisation is a key concept of the interpretive theory. It keeps raising misunderstanding and comments. It is necessary to examine to what extent it may be applied to the translation of written texts.
