What is it about?
In this novel, Brice Matthieussent depicts a translator who tries to get rid of the author and his « authority » by all kinds of means. Through a tricky plot and narrative full of metaphorical and theoretical references, Brice Matthieussent seems to aim at demonstrating the creative force and value of translation, however ‘spectral’ it may have been considered for long.

Fiction often tells us more about translation than 'plain' theory or research. Illustrating theoretical notions in a 'live' setting requires readers' awareness while bringing them pleasure.

This article draws on a larger project developed at Vienna University called Transfiction and revolving around translators' identity as depicted in literature and films and may be considered as a sort of follow up.
