What is it about?

This paper establishes the associations between critical literacy and religious-cultural concepts. My co-author and I involved a cohort of international postgraduates in Australia in a qualitative study to analyse their interpretations of texts. We unpacked how socio-cultural, as well as religious-cultural concepts, can be linked with critical literacy as the participants brought their cultural practices and (anti-)religious perspectives to read texts critically. We concluded that the education they received in their childhood also informed their readings of texts at this stage.
