What is it about?

Emergency admissions have been increasing far faster than expected for the last three decades. Parallel increases in both deaths and medical admissions are documented. Possible involvement of Cytomegalovirus (CMV) in these presumed infectious outbreaks is discussed.

Why is it important?

While many reasons have been suggested for the rise in medical admissions it has never been appreciated that medical admissions only increase during extended periods of unexplained higher death.
