What is it about?

Looks at the trends in the rates of appendicitis in England. No increase for children however an unexplained increase that grows with increasing age

Why is it important?

Emergency admissions have been increasing for many years. Appendicitis is a clearly defined condition and there is no reason that rates should be increasing with age, however, the increase seems to relate to outbreaks of a new type of immune disease.
