What is it about?

This study looked at what influences nursing students' caring behavior during their internship. Caring behavior is important for nurses as it reflects the values of their profession. The study found that several factors play a role, including the students' academic performance, personality traits like extraversion and conscientiousness, their motivations, and the workload they face during their internship. Among these factors, workload had the most significant impact on their caring behavior. This research highlights the importance of addressing workload and providing support to nursing students during their internships to help them develop caring behavior.

Why is it important?

Our study on the factors influencing the caring behavior of nursing students during their internship is unique because it sheds light on the various elements that contribute to how students provide care to patients. While previous research has touched on this topic, our focus on individual, psychological, and organizational factors provides a comprehensive understanding of what drives caring behavior.

Perspectives

In my role as a nursing educator, I see the potential for using these findings to enhance our curriculum and mentorship programs. By addressing the factors that influence caring behavior, we can better prepare our students to become the empathetic and skilled nurses that our healthcare system needs.
