Why is it important?
The authors argue that even the newest tests rely on a traditional construct of language that dates back many years, and that item types need to be more diverse. The paper proposes new types of items and concludes that the concept of language construct should be revised in the light of how language is used in the 21st century.
Perspectives
Written with Jesús García Laborda, this paper reflects our shared view that language tests need to keep up with how language is actually used today.
