What is it about?

This study analysed how useful e-rubrics are for peer assessment of digital materials for language teaching and for assessing language skills, based on the collaborative work of 40 students of a master's degree in ICT for language teaching at the Spanish National University for Distance Education (UNED). It used virtual collaborative action research and qualitative analysis with Atlas.ti and social network analysis (UCINET, yEd Graph Editor) of students' forum opinions.

Why is it important?

The results show that e-rubrics improve self-assessment, the relevance of assessment criteria and the evaluation of the format and connectivity of audiovisual elements in online materials. They are also quite effective for observing indicators of language skills, especially oral and written production and grammar and vocabulary.

Perspectives

This study, written with Esteban Vázquez Cano and Elena Martín Monje, reflects my interest in assessment tools for online language teacher education.
