What is it about?
A study of women in STEM - in the Arab Gulf states showing why it is difficult to recruit these human resources and why they leave this workforce. We show how to overcome barriers and support for women from society, the legal framework and government.

Why is it important?
The lack or loss of women in STEM is a cost to companies in difficulty of recruitment, and an economic problem for the global labour force because of a lack of talent. Besides which, gender equality is something we are aiming to achieve - according to the United Nations Sustainability goal 5. https://www.undp.org/
Perspectives
Writing this chapter was a pleasure as my co-authors are long standing collaborators in this topic. This chapter also added to a stream of work on the social impact of research about women's equality in the MENA region.
