Why is it important?

Often, tasks not seen as essential to your primary job - like waste reduction - are overlooked. Yet, they may be just as important for the organization's performance. Thus paper highlights the role of embedding routines so these tasks are not overlooked by employees.

Perspectives

As part of this research, the researcher was required to work on the assembly line for a week and - yes - she had to stop the line! This gave a new understanding of the work process. In general, routines are overlooked in environmental management, but they can be powerful to get employees continued participation.
