Why is it important?

Qualitative scholars face problems in getting published than those in more traditional fields. This is both a basic introduction to the publication process and addresses the special problems that qualitative scholars need to address.

Perspectives

As publisher of Left Coast Press and AltaMira Press, and Executive Editor for Sage Publications, I have probably published more qualitative books than any other publisher and am responsible for founding many of the key journals in the field. Thus, I have a good idea of what works in qualitative publications. My point of view is that publishing is a social activity and qualitative researchers are particularly trained to be good at these skills. Using their knowledge of human interaction can help them be more successful.
