Why is it important?

The chapter shows the long-term effects of reforms and development of VET as part of education system. It helps to understand developmental challenges of vocational education and training systems.

Perspectives

The Nordic comparisons enabled by the book and its individual country chapters show VET in its path-dependency, and divergent Nordic solutions for organising VET as part of education system in relation to general education in contrast to one another. They (country chapters) also help to understand how societal context in each country has given origin to particular reforms and what kind of outcomes reforms have had.
