What is it about?
How did music videos develop in Nepal--what were their influences, what did their directors try to do, and how were they linked to both the film industry and the music industry? This article traces that history from the 1980s through the 2020s. It shows how music videos and the visual in general have become central to music circulation in Nepal.

Why is it important?
Nepal is different from India; the film industry hasn't been its main source of popular music, for instance. This article is the first one to address music videos as a central aspect of Nepal's popular music industry.
Perspectives
